I'm going for a meeting tomorrow after work to discuss some artwork with a local indie artist for his next album release. The band's name is Bouley and I'm really impressed by their music. The style of vocals is very reminiscent of Bon Jovi, with and David Bowie's range and undertones taken from PearlJam. The actually music reminds more of PearlJam than anything else but also strong similarities from Miyavi's ~dokusou~ album, being strongly driven by complex guitar scales. All together, it is makes an awesome throw back to the guitar driven cords of the grunge scene of the early 90's. Though I call Boulay a "band" per se, it's truly only one man behind the music. He actually works with my partner at his scaffolding job, hence why I was able to get this contact. Besides work, I don't leave my apartment much so I mostly depend on my partner, Hugh, and my best friend, Iggy, for most of my irl social connections. Pathetic, I know, but it could be a lot worse.
On other art news, I might be sharing a dealer's table at Keikon in Victoria during the weekend of Feb the 20th-22nd. I'll be posting more on this later as it's still up in the air atm.
Well, I'm off to make dinner for Hugh before he gets home. Potatoe soup is made of awesome.
